Nostalgic Update: Meta revives Messenger’s blue icon in latest version
by John Exekiel De Guzman
Messenger’s latest update features its classic blue logo instead of the purple, multi-colored one seen on the app’s previous version.
The new update might be an attempt to bring Meta’s various brands under a single umbrella for uniformity, but it is also a return to the old 2020 Messenger appearance before its logo adopted the vibrant gradient of colors pink, purple, and blue which represented the color scheme of Instagram, another Meta-operated image-centric social media platform.
Despite the update that brought nostalgia to many, some netizens were upset to discover that the app icon color had shifted.
“They changed the Messenger icon, from the pink and blue gradient to just plain royal blue..Maybe the pink was too woke I guess” an X user quoted.
Though Meta has not made any official announcement about the latest change in the app icon, the update is widespread to users across the globe, assuming that Meta decided to stick to its former branding.
Without any official word from the company, people can keep using Messenger as its recent update won’t affect its core function — to keep its user connected.
